Steffen Garbe
Apricum – the cleantech advisory is extending a warm welcome to our newest colleague, Dr.Steffen Garbe. Steffen has joined Apricum’s expanding Berlin team as a consultant where his cleantech skills and experience will strengthen our services offering and help provide the actionable intelligence that enables our clients to efficiently carry out the global energy transition.
Steffen joins Apricum from Merck KGaA, the Darmstadt-based multinational science and technology company where he was responsible for innovation management and business development. During his career, Steffen has built strong experience in green hydrogen and energy storage as well as in strategy development, market entry strategy, pricing strategy and innovation project management. Some of his more recent projects covered water electrolysis for hydrogen generation and energy storage solutions for new entrants along the value chain.
Highly educated, Steffen holds a PhD in electrochemistry from the Swiss public research institute ETH Zurich where he was investigating the impact of elevated temperature on the efficiency of PEM water electrolysis. In addition he earned an MBA from the Collège des Ingénieurs in Paris as well as holding both a bachelor and a master’s degree in chemistry from the Technical University of Munich.
Born in the southwestern German town of Sinsheim and fluent in German, English and French, Steffen enjoys rock climbing, running and beach volleyball in his free time.
